Editorial Policy.

This page describes how Inside Tech World is put together: who writes it, what the dates on an article mean, and what happens when we get something wrong. It describes the process the site runs, not an ambition.

What we cover

Consumer and business technology: reviews, guides and analysis. The sections we publish are listed in the site menu and at the foot of every page.

Who writes it

Every article carries a byline, and every byline links to that writer's own page. Every writer has a page here, and all 36 of them are listed at Authors. Each page collects everything that writer has published on this site, and shows their photograph and biography where they have given us one.

Dates

Every article shows the date it was published. Where an article has been modified since, it also shows an updated date. When the two fall on the same day we show only the publication date, because "updated" on the day of publication tells a reader nothing.

Corrections

We would rather be corrected than left wrong, so reporting an error is a form on the article itself and not an address you have to go looking for. This is exactly what happens to a report:

• You send it from the Corrections panel in the article's sidebar. An email address is optional, so you can report anonymously.
• It arrives as a private record. It is never published automatically, and what you wrote is never shown anywhere on the site. A stranger's words on an article page would be an unmoderated publishing channel, and this is not one.
• An editor reads it and decides. If we accept it, we fix the article and write a correction notice in the desk's own words.
• That notice is published at the top of the article, dated, so any reader can see what changed and when. It stays there.
• If we decline a report, the article does not change and no notice appears.

We do not promise a turnaround time. If you leave an email address we may use it to follow up or to credit you, and for nothing else: telling us about an error does not add you to our newsletter.

We sell advertising, and what we sell is listed on Advertise. Whether a link on this site earns anyone a commission is a separate question with its own page: see the affiliate disclosure.
