Amazon has a piece of great news for its Prime Members, that it will no longer charge a fee of $14.99 monthly for using Amazon Fresh delivery services. In a press release, today Amazon announced that if you pay $12.99 a month (or $119 a year) for Amazon Prime you’ll be able to avail their Amazon Fresh and also Whole Foods Market grocery delivery services free of any cost.
The existing Fresh users can instantly benefit from the new pricing while the new customers will have to get them register and wait until they receive an invite.
Amazon is scorching up the heat once more in a world of grocery delivery services, by making its services a lot more engaging to its users compared to its competitors, mainly Walmart. It declared making Amazon Fresh available in more than 2,000 cities in the US.
Stephenie Landry, VP of Grocery Delivery further stated in the press release that “Prime members love the convenience of free grocery delivery on Amazon, which is why we’ve made Amazon Fresh a free benefit of Prime, saving customers $14.99 per month,” also adding “Grocery delivery is one of the fastest-growing businesses at Amazon, and we think this will be one of the most-loved Prime benefits.”
Amazon is providing one- and two-hour delivery service options and it has made its local Whole Foods inventory now easily available online at Amazon.com and their Amazon app.
There is no clear estimate of how many customers are using the Amazon Fresh service, or whether this service has been proved to be profitable enough for Amazon. In April 2018, Amazon reported that the Prime holds more than 100 million subscribers in the U.S and worldwide.
Regardless of estimating whether this service proves to be profitable for Amazon Fresh or not, it’s a fact that Amazon would make ways to leg up its grocery delivery service.
