Tesla will reveal ‘Cybertruck’ pickup on Nov. 21, Elon Musk says

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced he will reveal the Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck at an event in Los Angeles on Nov. 21.

Elon Musk has announced in a tweet that Tesla will unveil its all-electric “Cybertruck” November 21 in Los Angeles near the SpaceX rocket factory. Elon Musk is CEO of SpaceX, as well.

SUV and Pickup trucks are one of the best selling categories of vehicles lately in the US market, according to Autonews. They have better profit margins than sedans. Tesla wants to capitalize on these categories of vehicles.

November 21 is the date when another rival automobile company Ford is going to unveil their SUV inspired by their popular Mustang model in Los Angeles Automobile Show a few kilometers away from Tesla’s event. Ford is also expected to launch an all-electric F150 truck in 2 to 3 years.

Last year while talking to Recode, Elon Musk expressed about the truck that “[…] it’s gonna be like a really futuristic-like cyberpunk, Blade Runner pickup truck. It’s gonna be awesome, it’s gonna be amazing. This will be heart-stopping.” Interestingly, the movie Blade Runner released in 1982 was set in November 2019.

Musk tweeted about the reference of Blade Runner:

Even though Tesla is one of the most anticipated companies and valued over $50 billion, it has remained in severe criticism by market watchers. Tesla has mostly remained unprofitable since founded in 2003. It only earned surprising profits in three of the past five quarters. Tesla has high hopes of profits with the introduction of a pickup truck.
