Volkswagen is targeting the European auto market with electric vehicles. Freshly, The German Automobile manufacturer is aiming to be top of the range in the battery-powered vehicle market by 2025.
“Our new overall plan for 1.5 electric cars in 2025 shows that people want climate-friendly individual mobility – and we are making it affordable for millions of people,” says Thomas Ulbrich, member of the Board of Management responsible for E-Mobility at Volkswagen.
Volkswagen has proposed that the brand will have turned out 1m battery cars until 2023 and will achieve the target of 1.5m till 2025. In the current year, the company has contributed more than 70,000 electric vehicles, which is 20,000 added than last year.

Volkswagen has introduced the first model of its upcoming generation of all-electric vehicles, at the IAA 2019 International Motor Show in September 2019. The ID.3 is based on Modular Electric Drive Toolkit (MEB) offers ranges from 330 to 550 kilometers following the EU law of the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). The basic version costs €30,000, and according to the newsroom, 37,000 customers have been made the pre-paid bookings for ID.3.
After the scandal of practicing software to cheat on emissions testing, Volkswagen paid more than $33 billion in fines. Now the company and other automobile manufacturers are aiming to reduce average carbon dioxide emission below 95 grams /km in the EU.

Previously, automobile companies were targeting the niche market for the usage of electric cars, but as per automotive analyst, 2020 will be the year of the electric vehicle. The brand has plans to target the mass market, and following their EV strategy; the first ID.3 cars will appear on Europe’s roads in summer 2020.
