BlackBerry Couldn’t Compete With iPhone

In 2007, BlackBerry was the leading smartphone manufacturer. They had revolutionized the industry with their innovative, yet practical ideas. But it too underestimated Apple for being an underdog.

No one believed it could become something big, and look where are we now? Everywhere we see an iPhone user. The founder of BlackBerry, Mike Lazaridis poked fun at Apple’s smartphones. This is because they believed no one would want a touch screen and a virtual keyboard.

One instance, Mike reported saying, “Try typing a web key on a touchscreen on an Apple iPhone, that’s a real challenge. You cannot see what you type”

Now, if we look back at times with a keypad, it feels weird. People loved the idea of a smartphone with a big touchscreen. Thus, Apple became a huge success and everyone had to follow in their footsteps.

Even BlackBerry launched its touchscreen phones. But eventually, they couldn’t compete with the constantly changing trends. So, with time the company lost its relevance to the iPhone. Samsung was quick to adopt touchscreen models to stay in the market.

Final Thoughts

BlackBerry was too late to join the race, as it couldn’t keep up with the change. So, if you are still using a classic BB smartphone, it’s high time you backup your data. Let us know what you think about this official move by the firm.
